Every once in a while, you run into a game that makes you tilt your head and go 'Huh' in a thoughtful sort of way. Lab of the Dead is one of those games. Best described as an odd mixture of Alchemy and Tamagotchi, Lab of the Dead is definitely an unusual approach to zombie games. Where most games leave the dead for, well, dead, this one is intent on making you intimately familiar with what makes them tick. As the protagonist, you're going to chain up zombies, toss beach balls at them, feed them meat, analyze their responses and - you get the picture. You're a researcher. Do everything you can to prove that zombies will respond to more than the smell of human flesh.
Interesting as that might sound, Lab of the Dead does have one major flaw. It's slow. It's really, really slow. If you're the sort who likes instant results, you should probably steer clear of Lab of the Dead because it's going to have you gnawing on someone in frustration. However, if you somehow survive the first twenty minutes, you might just find yourself pleasantly surprised by the rest of the game.
